The Next Generation Chiropractic Table!

Dr. John Graham demonstrating how the Manuthera 242 Mobilisation table works

Chiropractic Treatment Tables have not changed much in the last several decades. However, there is a company in Finland named Lojer who has reimagined the possibilities for chiropractic treatment.

The Manuthera 242 Mobilisation Table (Pronounced Man-U-Ther-a) is an incredibly versatile table featuring unique patented technology. Mobility treatment can be carried out 3-dimensionally using the traction, flexion, lateral flexion and rotation features of the table, as well as gravity. In 2018 this table came to the US; there are currently only a handful of practices around the US who have purchased it. Chiropractic Health and Acupuncture on Main Street in Frisco is one of them!

One of the many table features is it assists in painless traction. For example, a patient with low back pain is slightly inverted causing mild traction on the spine, while the chiropractor palpates and aligns the vertebrate. This makes for a comfortable adjustment and assists in a gentle treatment.

Another great feature is all table segments are piston mobile. What this would mean for a patient with low back pain is at the waist the table moves in a full circular direction. With the use of pistons, the chiropractor can not only apply a traditional up and down flexion/distraction technique but a side to side, as well as a roll at the waist. This assists in loosing up the patient’s back, providing a great muscle release and making for a more effective adjustment.

The table also has this same piston technique in the shoulder area. Many people think of a Chiropractor as a spine/bone doctor but really, they are a nervous system doctor. The nervous system travels from the brain and exits thru the spine to various parts of the body. This is why the spine is so important in chiropractic care, but there are many other aspects to address when it comes to chiropractic adjusting. In our office we adjust all extremities including cranial plates, shoulders, wrists, knees, feet, etc.

In the past chiropractors may choose between a table with flexion/distraction or high/low (a table that stands up and allows the patient to step on and then gently lowers them to a prone position.) For patients in extreme pain this really is an incredible feature. After treatment while still on the table, you may feel better but when you stand up sometimes the pain can flare again, a vicious cycle for the patient. The Manuthera table is unique in that it has BOTH features, minimizing the chances of a flare up.
